The Long Walk home was directed by Richard Pearce and written by John Cork. The movie was released in March 1991 and won one Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Motion Picture Whoopi Goldberg and was nominated by PFS for Human Rights and by Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress Starring in a Motion Picture Lexi Randall. The movie was filmed in Montgomery, Alabama, USA and it was a great success nation wide.

The movie tells you about how hard it was to be black in USA in the 60’s. The movie features many truthful facts about black and white people which you will never learn at school. The movie is very educational and the screenplay is also excellent.

The plot is about 2 women in Montgomery Alabama, one is black and the other one is white. The movie takes place in 1955 and shows you the story how hard the black people really had to fight to survive at this time. Black people were forced to sit in the back of the bus and they almost worked as slaves. Still you will see how Miriam Thompson (Sissy Spacek) and Odessa Cotter (Whoopi Goldberg) managed to keep being best friends.
